Iceland by Kayak
Iceland by Kayak
In 1977, Nigel Foster and Geoff Hunter completed the first kayak circumnavigation of Iceland. In those days, there were no dry-suits. No manufacturer produced kayak hatch covers, or recessed deck fittings. For planning, there was no Google, no Word Wide Web, no cell phone, home computer. There was no GPS. or any easy way to get a weather forecast in Iceland.
Here is the story of an adventure along the remote and wild coastline of a country with volcanoes and icecaps, dark sand beaches, 2,000-feet-high cliffs, seabird colonies, and isolated farms and fishing villages. Discover how Iceland and Icelanders were in the 1970s, and what kayak expeditions were like back then.
